The village church in Raben was built in the first half of the thirteenth century. The large fieldstone building features a narrow half-timbered tower. Upon entering the church, visitors are overwhelmed by the painted interior in stark contrast to the church's modest exterior. The painting was first done in 1907 by three painters from Berlin (Jansen, Köhler and Jensen), and was extensively restored in 2013.

A defining element of the painting are the red and green tones of the medieval floral ornaments that adorn whole intertwining wall sections of the church. The entire apse is painted in this style with thistle-like acanthus leaves. There is a stylised depiction of the Lamb of God at the centre of the grey foliage on the ceiling of the choir area. The pulpit dates back to around the year 1700, and there is a Dinse organ on the gallery.

The church is open daily from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. as part of the open-church programme.
