There was once cobblestone church where the current half-timbered church in Tuchen-Klobbicke now stands. It was built in the 12th century but was completely destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. With the financial assistance of Prussian King Friedrich I, a new church was built in 1711. This was a purely half-timbered structure, which was unusual for the region. The tower was completed in 1718.

The church required ongoing maintenance measures and in 1856 it was fully renovated. However, the church fell into disrepair over the next century and had to be closed in 1973 because of how dilapidated it was. It would have cost much more than the parish could afford to renovate it. When a storm caused the whole nave to collapse in 1990, permission was granted to demolish the church.

With great dedication on the part of the parish, the church was rebuilt from 1991 to 1994. It was fitted out in 1998. The original gallery was reinstalled. The bell dating from 1934 also hangs in church tower today. The parish transferred the church to the municipality of Tuchen-Klobbicke. Today, there is a fully reconstructed building on the site. It is used for secular events such as concerts, readings and exhibitions as well as for religious purposes. The church is particularly popular for weddings. The church is maintained by Verein Fachwerkkirche Tuchen e. V.

The church is part of the “Offene Kirche” (Open Churches) initiative. The church can be viewed outside of opening hours subject to pre-booking with Rosemarie Lange, Kirchstr. 6, telephone +49 33451-63017.
