The outdoor area with its natural garden, fruit tree meadow and play and educational stations offers plenty of space to relax and learn.

Homemade cakes, coffee specialties and refreshing drinks await guests in the Schmiede Café. The farm store stocks small souvenirs and books as well as fresh vegetables from the farm's own climate nursery. The climate nursery clearly demonstrates how climate-positive and environmentally friendly vegetable cultivation works - the garden is open at the weekend and invites visitors to try it out and ask questions.

Linum offers special natural spectacles every year: up to ten pairs of storks raise their offspring in the village, which can be observed at close range in summer. From September, the surrounding meadows and ponds are transformed into an impressive resting area for tens of thousands of cranes and Nordic geese - an unforgettable experience for nature lovers.

The Storchenschmiede's extensive environmental education program is aimed at children, young people and families: project days, building and craft workshops, guided tours, summer camps and birthday events invite you to discover and protect nature through play.

Activities:
  • Exhibitions on the white stork, crane and other subjects
  • Guided tours through one of the villages in Germany with the largest number of storks, into the pond landscape and through the typical fenlands of the Rhinluch
  • Extensive programme of guided tours to observe resting cranes in autumn
  • Information and materials on a range of nature conservation issues
  • Products from our own organic garden
  • Project days for children – also in the nature and adventure gardens, holiday camps for children
  • Natural history weekends and seminars
