After almost a year and a half of construction, the Walnussmeisterei invited guests to the reopening of its farm store in Herzberg (Mark) in mid-May 2025. In addition to the popular nut products, you can now also enjoy home-baked cakes and handmade coffee here. The Walnussmeisterei is showing its sunny side for the first time this year: the reopening of the small nut store was accompanied by the inauguration of the new summer terrace. Freshly planted, the future courtyard tree - a walnut tree, of course - will provide long-term shade for the terrace and cool the façade of the renovated stable building. Looking like a new building from the outside, the true charm of the over 100-year-old structure is revealed to the curious visitor on the inside. Built as a simple stable, this part of a three-sided farm has been converted several times and was home to the nationally renowned Schellin cutlery shop until 2017. The Walnussmeisterei Böllersen, which began setting up its food trade and farm shop within the rustic walls in 2019, also sees itself as a “craft business”. “From the knife forge to the cracking forge, so to speak,” says a delighted Vivian Böllersen, who can now finally offer her employees and guests professional premises with running water and underfloor heating. “The energy for this comes partly from Madame Soleil and partly from our walnut shells, which are produced during the cracking process and are then used in the wood chip heating system.” The new processing and storage rooms, guest toilets and staff rooms have been co-financed by EU funds (LEADER) and now offer the Walnussmeisterei the opportunity to grow further and become not only a food production facility but also a meeting place in the

rural area of Ostprignitz-Ruppin.
