"If you don't know what to do first, then have a cup of tea.” (Japanese proverb)

The Japanese Bonsai Garden in Ferch is a horticultural work of art and, at the same time, the centre of Japanese art and culture in the state of Brandenburg.

As soon as visitors enter the garden, they come face to face with a world of colourful azaleas, Japanese maples and fine ornamental cherries. A sandy path winds through a slightly undulating mossy area around the naturally laid-out pond, which you can either walk around or cross on various stone bridges. Walking along the path you will come across trees up to 180 years old in bowls - bonsais. A gazebo with a sweeping roof stands at the edge of the pond. From here, visitors can admire the genuine Japanese carp, so-called koi carp, against the background of the impressive miniature trees.

The garden trees are impressively illuminated during the Lantern Festival when the nights get darker. Visitors are greeted by a sea of lights created by Japanese stone lanterns, handmade bamboo lamps and wooden lanterns. Dates and further information on the "Japanese Festival of Light" can be found on the company’s website.

Anyone who lives further away can order Japanese teas and teas from around the world as well as ceramic tea sets in the online shop run by the tea house in the Japanese Bonsai Garden.
