Luckau is located in the Lower Lusatian Ridge Nature Park, not far from the unique biosphere reserve Spreewald. Explorers and returners are impressed by the lovingly restored historic town centre and the spacious garden and park areas that were created on the occasion of the 2000 State Horticultural Show. The historic centre is surrounded by the 1,800 metres long town wall. Many carefully restored buildings, such as the classicist town hall and the many residential houses near the market square, with their magnificent decorated renaissance gables, and the Gothic church of St. Nicholas bear witness to the town’s lively and eventful history.

The ‘Kulturkirche’ is the cultural hub of the town and home to the Lower Lusatia Museum, the library and the tourist information centre. The nearby humour and satire museum is also well-worth a visit.
