The two-storey baroque building was probably built around 1800. The building was acquired by Ferdinand Griebenow, son of a lord of the manor from Berlin, who had married the daughter of a distinguished weaver family in 1873 and from then on lived in Vetschau. The Griebenow family finally donated the Ratskeller to the town of Vetschau. As the "1st house on the square", the Ratskeller had a new achievement at that time: the telephone could be used by anyone at a price of 50 pfennigs. Today the breakfast hotel offers an event room for larger and smaller group events such as meetings, weddings, etc. - the offer is huge. Up to 10 people can relax in the hotel's own sauna. The favourable location of the Hotel Garni between the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve and the Lusatian Lakeland is ideal for getting to know Lower Lusatia and seeing the beauty of the landscape for yourself. You can also rent bicycles from the hotel.
