The loghouse that has meanwhile disintegrated, was bought by its current owners in 1987 and converted into a weekend home, under the construction conditions of the socialist era.

Following the political turnaround, the building was refurbished as a residence and the decorative garden was also created. A 120 square metres big koi pond was added in 2001. The decision to expand the garden and make it accessible to the public was made in 2011. The result is ‘Koigarten Willischza’ that was opened on May 1, 2019.

Gardens are meant to bring joy and relaxation, and every garden is unique. This place of relaxation and recreation was created based on Asian traditions, using plants, water and rocks. Visitors can draw inspiration from the Prussian garden, sound garden, the water features and the plant arrangements. Culinary delights are available at the tea house that also has a terrace.

‘Old Fritz’ takes visitors on a tour of the gardens at 11 a.m. on Saturdays, talking about settlement in the districts Kauper and Kolonie.

Guests will learn interesting facts about Asian gardening culture, as well as about the Sorbs and Wends in the Lusatia region.
