Located just 20 kilometers west of Berlin, Landgut Stober in Nauen is more than a hotel. It is a place where history, sustainability, and meaningful encounters come together in a unique way. For years, Landgut Stober has been one of Germany’s most sought-after conference hotels, and has been recognized twice as Europe’s greenest hotel (2017 & 2021).

Here, companies come together for leadership coaching, NGOs host networking events, and teams retreat to reflect and reconnect. But individual guests are also discovering this extraordinary place – as a haven, a place to think, and a peaceful escape by the lake.

Where history was made – and lives on

The estate once belonged to the Borsig family, legendary industrial pioneers of the 19th century. In the 1940s, the Kreisau Circle met here – a group of resistance fighters around Helmuth James Graf von Moltke who envisioned a more just future in the midst of dark times. Their spirit of renewal, reflection, and responsibility can still be felt today.

Historic buildings, the original lithography workshop from 1896, and the Borsig steam engine “Dicke Bertha” stand as silent witnesses to this remarkable past.

A temporary home – with a view of the lake

With 300 rooms including junior suites and suites, Landgut Stober offers ample space for rest and relaxation. The beds, made by COCO-MAT from all-natural materials, provide deep, restorative sleep. Many rooms are low in electrosmog – ideal for recharging.

Right outside lies Groß Behnitzer See – a lake with drinking water quality. Surrounded by forest and open skies, it contributes to some of the cleanest air in the Berlin region. Many rooms offer a view of the lake or the surrounding greenery.

Sustainability you can see and feel

At Landgut Stober, sustainability isn’t just a promise – it’s a practice:

• Certified organic breakfast

• In-house solar energy production (exceeding our own needs)

• 400 m³ rainwater reservoir covering 50% of our water use

• Woodchip heating system (since 2008) – oil and gas free

• Common Good Balance Sheet & certified transparency via the German Sustainability Code (DNK)

• LEADER-certified by Sustainable Meetings Berlin (GSTC recognized)

Regional cuisine with purpose

Our breakfast is fully organic-certified, featuring a wide selection of fresh, regional, and certified organic products.

In the evenings (Thu–Sun – please check our website for current opening hours), we serve lovingly prepared cuisine with strong regional roots – fresh from the market, seasonal, and full of character. We focus on quality and origin. Our dishes speak for themselves – honest, flavorful, and without shortcuts or pre-made additives.

A place for connection – today and tomorrow

Whether attending a conference, celebrating a special event, or enjoying a private stay – Landgut Stober is a place that inspires. A place where change is welcome and where meaningful dialogue still matters.

Because once you've been here, you’ll realize: it's not just the peaceful landscape that slows you down – it’s the attitude that defines everything we do.
