The tavern-brewery in the fishing town of Plaue/Havel is located directly on the B1 in the conservation zone of the historic garden town, which is also known as the “Paintbox settlement” because of its colourfully painted houses. The first beer was poured here as far back as 1915 and the tavern last changed into the hands of the Brätz family in 1988. While Gernot Bratz brews 15 to 20 different beers each year, his wife Karola is in charge of feeding the tavern’s guests. Specialities include historic Plauer and Brandenburg beers as well as stouts, ales and traditional seasonal beers, as well as wheat and Pilsner beers all year round.

The restaurant, which seats 90 people, takes diners on a journey through the 100-year long history of the tavern. The beer garden, which holds an additional 60 people, offers views of the interesting architecture of the quiet and tranquil historic garden town. In the immediate vicinity is the Fischerkiez, the old fishing village, the castle and park built on the foundations of Quitzow Castle, boat charters, a shipyard and a church dating back to the 12th century – all definitely worth a visit. The town also boasts the Fontane Trail with the Margaretenhof manor house, which Fontane used as his place of residence during his walks through the Brandenburg Mark region. The town's first brewing rights date back to 1548. Light and dark lager has been brewed in Plaue since 1853. In addition to interesting events, involving folk, country or comedy, the restaurant is also ideal for catered family and company parties and functions, such as the "Master Brewer of 1900”.
