The Friedensmühle Petkus, built as a post mill in 1835, can be seen from far away when leaving the village of Wahlsdorf. The name Friedensmühle, meaning ‘Peace Mill’, was promoted by regional poet Richard Conrad in a newspaper article after the Second World War. In the 1950s the post mill was turned into a paltrok mill with a wind rose and patent sails. This rebuilding work made it possible to expand the mill and add more milling plants. Following extensive restoration work from the beginning of the 1990s, the mill is now fully functional again.

The Friedensmühle offers a natural setting for weddings and private celebrations for up to 80 guests. The historic complex, comprising a listed mill and extensive outdoor grounds, allows for bespoke celebrations without being tied to specific catering or service provider requirements.

Two sand-coloured stretch tents, each measuring 7.5 x 10 metres and featuring sturdy wooden flooring, provide covered space for around 60 people each. The entire outdoor area surrounding the mill is available for exclusive use – for the wedding ceremony, reception, dinner and dancing in the open air. The historic mill itself can be used for photo shoots and can be rotated 360 degrees, ensuring optimal lighting conditions for photography.

Three tiny houses are available for overnight stays, accommodating up to six people. There are also pitches available for tents and motorhomes. Two types of toilet facilities are available: a composting toilet with a hand-washing station for smaller groups of up to around 35 people, and a modern toilet trailer in various configurations. Free parking is available directly at the venue.

The Friedensmühle is a technical monument. Proceeds from the venue hire go towards the preservation of the historic building and the restoration of the outdoor areas.
